On 10 August 2024 QTEK Labels moved into a new manufacturing facility in Thirumazhisai, Chennai. At 10,000 square feet, it gives the company more room to print, more room to store material and a single press at the centre of the floor: an 8-colour flexographic label printing machine.

The move is the largest single investment in capacity since QTEK began manufacturing self-adhesive labels in 2007. It is also a statement about how the business intends to grow: not by squeezing more work into the same space, but by building the space the work needs.

10,000 square feet built around label production

The new facility is laid out around the way a label actually travels through a plant: raw material in at one end, printed and finished rolls out at the other. Separating storage from production keeps material accessible and leaves the press area clear, which matters when a job changes from one substrate or one design to the next.

Space is easy to underestimate. A label plant needs room for incoming stock, work in progress, dies and plates, and finished rolls waiting for dispatch. Having that room under one roof is what allows a schedule to absorb a rush order without pushing everything behind it.

An 8-colour flexographic press at the centre

The press is a Multitec 8-colour flexographic label printing machine. Eight print stations let a job carry more colours in a single pass — brand colours, backgrounds, spot work and varnishes — rather than being split across separate runs. That is where the practical gains come from:

  • Print quality. Consistent colour across the run, with the registration a multi-colour design needs.
  • Efficiency. Fewer passes over the press for a complex label, so less time between the artwork being approved and the rolls being ready.
  • Flexibility. More room to accommodate the variants customers ask for: different pack sizes, seasonal designs and product ranges printed to the same standard.

Key highlights of the new facility

  • 10,000 sq ft manufacturing space — a spacious, well-equipped floor designed to support growing production requirements.
  • Advanced 8-colour flexographic printing — modern printing technology for high-quality labels with precision, consistency and efficiency.
  • Expanded inventory storage — ample space to hold higher stock levels of raw materials, improving material availability and smoothing production planning.
  • Enhanced production capabilities — the infrastructure to handle increasing customer requirements and support future growth.

More material on hand, fewer surprises

Expanded inventory storage is the least visible part of the move and one of the most useful. Holding more raw material means a job is less likely to wait on a delivery, and production planning has room to sequence work rather than react to it. For customers, that translates into fewer conversations about what is possible this week.

Moving forward, growing together

The move is more than an expansion of physical infrastructure. It reflects a continued commitment to investing in technology, improving operational efficiency and delivering greater value to customers. As QTEK Labels begins this next chapter, the aim is straightforward: enhanced capabilities, consistent quality and dependable service.
