Barcode labels that work with your scanner and your surface

QTEK Labels manufactures self-adhesive barcode labels in Chennai for inventory, logistics, manufacturing and product-tracking applications. We also supply the variable-data printers, barcode software and ribbons used to print barcodes in-house.

A barcode label is more than a printed image. The symbology, label size, material, adhesive and print method all affect whether the code scans reliably. We start with those details before we quote, so the label fits the product, the printer and the way your team scans it.

What we need to quote

Six details decide whether a barcode label works in production. Send what you know; we will confirm the rest.

Symbology and data

Tell us the barcode type and the data format. Common examples include Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, UPC-A, QR Code and Data Matrix. We will confirm the print method against your scanner.

Label size and layout

Give the width and height, the number of labels across, and where the text, logo and barcode sit. Include the quiet zone around the code so it can be scanned.

Material and adhesive

Paper and clear BOPP are common starting points. The adhesive has to suit the surface: glass, plastic, metal, painted board or a curved container. Tell us what the label goes on.

Application environment

Say whether the label stays indoors, goes outdoors, gets wet, is handled roughly, or sees heat, cold or chemicals. That decides the stock, laminate and ribbon.

Printing method and scanner

Tell us whether you print in-house or buy pre-printed labels, and which printer, ribbon and scanner you use. If you need equipment, we can discuss the printer, software and ribbon together.

Quantity and repeat schedule

Give the quantity for the first run and how often you expect to reorder. Repeat volume affects the material choice, print method and price.

Common applications

Where barcode labels are used, and what usually matters first.

Application What the label usually needs
Warehouse and inventory A code that scans at a distance, a size that fits the shelf or bin, and an adhesive that holds on the stored surface.
Shipping and cartons Clear print on a label that survives handling and rubbing, with the data supplied per carton or per pallet.
Product and retail A compact code beside the product information, with the print contrast and size the retail scanner expects.
Manufacturing and assembly A label that stays readable through the process, on the part or container, with the right adhesive for the surface.
Pharmaceutical and healthcare Small, legible labels where the data, layout and material are agreed with the customer's quality process.
Food and beverage A label suited to the container and the handling environment, with the code kept clear of moisture and condensation where needed.

Materials and print methods

A starting point for the conversation. We confirm the exact combination against your application.

Requirement Typical starting point What we confirm
Indoor product or carton label Paper or clear BOPP Surface, scanner contrast, adhesive and finish
Moisture, outdoor or repeated handling Synthetic or BOPP stock with a suitable adhesive Exposure, laminate, ribbon and expected life
Thermal transfer printing Wax, wax-resin or resin ribbon Printer, print speed, abrasion and heat exposure
Pre-printed labels Printed by QTEK Artwork, variable data, quantity and packing format
Printing in-house Barcode software, printer and ribbon from QTEK Volume, printer model, label format and ribbon match

How ordering works

1. Send the requirement

Share the symbology, data format, size, quantity, surface, environment and scanner details. A sample of the current label helps if you have one.

2. We confirm the specification

We confirm the material, adhesive, print method, price and lead time for the quantity you need.

3. Approve artwork and data

Send the fixed artwork or the variable-data file. We confirm the layout and the barcode placement before production.

4. Production and dispatch

Repeat orders typically take 5 days; first orders 7–10 days depending on artwork and plate or die making. We confirm the schedule at quotation.
